Restaurants & Bars

Noumea, New Caledonia

Pickings were film to none on a Sunday cruise port stop in Noumea, New Caledonia but we were heartened by the excellent reviews in Lonely Planet for the one restaurant that was open in the Latin Quarter of time in a restored and chambering colonial building - La Chaumiere.

One word- avoid. Expensive and used what clearly appeared to be canned products with a few fresh garnishes that could not disguise this total culinary failure which we assume is some sort of a chain -dressing itself up as trendy French bistro. Dehydrated mashed potatoes should never have even passed their porte, let alone our palate..
