North Charleston > Historic District By Day

Headed to shows at the Coliseum. Won't get in until just a few hours before showtime on Friday so we're looking for a cool place near the venue to grab drinks and a bite. Have heard EVO is wonderful - fun ambiance? Also read about Sesame Burgers? Would appreciate recs for a lively place to meet up with friends on this side of town.

Also seeking your best thoughts on the historic district by day. We are traveling with friends who have never been to Charleston before so we want to show them a good time that afternoon. Only have time for lunch or brunch. Right now I have reservations at Cru and Husk but I'm thinking we may want something less structured, like bar-hopping and apps around town. We loved Poe's last year but want to be downtown this year. Would appreciate a similar vibe though - good drinks, fun place, tasty food. I always love Pearlz so that's one option. The rooftop at the Vendue was fun a few years ago...not sure what it's like now? Loved Closed For Business but the last time we went it was late at night - not sure if it's fun during the day? Have read about Edmund's Oast as a good place for beer...thoughts? Drinks and ambiance more important than a fancy meal...although we would like good food which I know isn't hard to find downtown. :)

Thanks in advance!
