I thought I'd posted about this place before, but I
don't see it. Anyway, last night's dinner earns it
another notice.

Niko's is a casual Greek restaurant, on Broadway at
72nd St. They also serve lots of other Italian and
generic Mediterranean cuisine, but stick with the Greek
dishes, especially the meze and other small plates, or
the grilled whole fish. Grilled octopus is fantastic,
and they make great taramosalata and other spreads.
This is a great place to order lots of little things
and nibble. But if you're hungry, order a fish. Last
night we had a pompano, beautifully grilled and served
with several interesting side dishes: sauteed spinach,
some sort of root vegetable puree served in a filo cup,
a couple types of salad.

They have a nice selection of inexpensive Greek wines
and good ouzo. They make a good Greek coffee and great
desserts.

Dinner for two with drinks and a dessert to split came
to $60.
