A couple months ago I picked up a copy of Japion, a newpaper for the Japanese community in NYC, and in the restaurants section in back I noticed a "grand opening" advertisement for Nikki Sushi and Izakaya.

It is located in 4 World Financial Center and only open on weekdays until 9:30pm.

Sounds like the hours are too short to be a hontou no izakaya, but since the ad was in this Japanese language newspaper, I am wondering if it is worth a visit. (Although Japion has an English marketing website and maybe other marketing tools that solicit ads from non-Japanese readers, so there is the possibility that a restaurant advertised in it is not Japanese run.)

I tore out the Nikki ad (and another one for Ise, now relocated to Pine St thank goodness) but in the past couple of months my work schedule has not allowed me to get over to the Financial Center during the week.

Has anyone been to Nikki?
