Arrive late on Thu. 8/27. We live in San Francisco and some of our favorite SF eateries include: Bar Tartine, A16, Nopa, Chez Papa Bistrot, Town Hall (w/o the noise), etc. We like chef-driven American cuisine with local ingredients when possible.
Have dressy events to attend on Fri. & Sat., so somewhat upscale preferred over casual Pac-NW grunge.
Not looking for the high-brow Boulevard, Farallon, Water Bar experience (funny, those are all Pat Kuleto spots). Also not looking for the overly formal, like Quince (though we love the food).
Dinner for two with a $30-40 bottle of Oregon Pinot Gris, no dessert with tip- <$150.
