Newbie to Persian: Best in MD and best in area?

hello | Apr 20, 2005 03:52 AM

I've been wanting to try persian food and would like to find 2 or 3 places to call my own:

1. A verry good Persian restaurant (Shamshiry?)
2. A great cheap bargain Persian place with excellent food
3. A good Persian place in Rockville/Wheaton, as I live in Maryland.

I've been suffering from middle eastern food withdrawal here in maryland and i didn't like Max's in Wheaton and Lebanese Taverna seems a bit mediocre too.

I've never had Persian food before. i've had turkish in istanbul and in germany, morrocan in morocco and lots of shwarmas and falefels in the East Village in NYC. How is Persian different? What do you recommend as unique or different from turkish/lebanese?

Finally any great Persian places in MD? Or is the entire DC Persian community in VA? Thanks!!!
