help needed--four star place for tough crowd

I'm in the happy position of looking for a "money is no object" place for dinner for myself and about six coworkers. It's a celebration dinner, so we want to go somewhere where we can drink a fair amount of wine and feel relaxed and celebratory. You know--not exacly raucous, but like we don't have to speak in hushed tones. The group ranges from a couple of very sophisticated diners to a couple of very unsophisticated and possibly unadventurous diners. Can you recommend a delicious place that would fit the bill? An example of what I don't want is Everest, where although the service was excellent and unpretentious, the place felt too buttoned up for my taste.

Is Tru too experimental? (I've never been). It's been a while since I've been to Ambria or NoMi or Spiaggia. Other suggestions? Any help gratefully accepted!
