nasty treatment at il buco

I used to eat here a bunch about two years ago and then stopped going after I organized a friend's bridal shower here and got lousy service for a big party (they asked us to leave the table after main course and move down to the crowded wine bar for dessert and the bride was six months pregnant but that's another story).

So I forgive (if not forget) and book a table there last thursday night. What happens? All four of us make it there at 8:50 for a 9 table and the hostess tells us that it will be ready at 9:30 "the earliest." "We're backed" up she said unapolagetically, and the downstairs wine bar was closed for a party and the bar was packed, so there we were standing out in the rain. When I asked how this happened, she shrugged and said, "I hate to let people down when they call for a table so I try to squeeze them in." Now this mistake is sometimes unavoidable and when it happened to me recently at red cat and florent management came over apologized and comped us a round of drinks.

If they didn't have such a crappy attitude at il buco I wouldn't hold a grudge. But I do. Ended up at Rialto which was perfectly pleasant.
