Napoleon Hats

The thread below about marzipan got me thinking ...

A long time ago, when Grain d'Or bakeries first started opening in the area, they used to make a pastry called a Napoleon Hat. It consisted of a butter cookie-type dough pinched tricorne-style over a huge ball of marzipan, baked, then iced with a thin layer of dark chocolate over the flat part of the "hat." My, what goodness! Unfortunately, sometime in the 90s, they stopped making them.

Could they exist anywhere else, perhaps in or very near the greater Bay Area?
