My wife and I went to Napa Rose for our anniversary, last Saturday night. Thank you BTW to the 'hounds who suggested dishes etc., we took your recs into consideration and you were absolutely right.
We went with the vintners tasting menu, which consisted of 4 courses, along with the supplement which got us a glass of matching wine with each course. We also ordered the scallops with the vanilla sauce, based on your recommendations we just could not pass up this signature starter. I'm really bad about the details of the dishes served but they included a nice amuse bouche which consisted of a sushi-like item made up of crab meat held into a small cylinder with a strip of red bell pepper, served with a nice chardonnay, then a very good fish dish, in a little light broth with baby clams, served with a bigger, even nicer chardonnay, then a course with duck which had a maple crust, with a pinot noir, and finally medallions of pork tenderloin with prosciutto, on a small bed of greens, okra (though we couldn't tell) and black-eyed peas (!) with a really good zinfandel. A trio of small dessert items rounded things out, with a glass of Bonny Doone Vin de Glacier. Service was excellent, and the atmosphere was relaxed, but refined and very nice. My wife and I were definitely impressed, and plan to return in the near future. With a cocktail each beforehand, the bill before tip was just below $250.00
