My wife and I love the island of Nantucket and we have been vacationing there every summer for the last 21 years. We travel a great deal and we simply love it there. However I have noticed that therestaurants in Nantucket have become more expensive with each passing year. This is understandable; however, what is not is the very high prices of a normal dinner along with the portions and the quality. We were disappointed.
For example we had dinner at the Tavern and when I asked for some bread I was charger 25 cents for each roll. This is absurd.
One of our favorite restaurants is the "Straight Wharf". The food was always consistently well prepared and delicious. This time it was a major disappointment. My $12 salad was an embarassment in terms of price, quantity and quality. Both our fish entrees were too salty. Very disappointing.
I have spoken to other visitors on the island and they all felt the cost of food is too high!!
