Nags Head & Kitty Hawk New in 2016

Polly Prospect | Jun 5, 2016 06:22 AM

I realize that there are some aged threads out there discussing the Outer Banks, but I'd like to know whether there is anything new for 2016. After the sad demise of The Brine and Bottle, my husband and I have been searching for a replacement with good, fresh and reasonably creative food to enjoy when we're down there for our annual family reunion. We used to live in the RDU area, so we would come down in the spring and scope out the scene. Now we're in the Chicago area and need to rely on sites like this for the lowdown. What we have enjoyed in the last couple of years:

Blue Moon Beach Grill
Tortugas Lie
Saltbox Cafe
Back Porch in Okracoke
Country Deli (not eat-in, but the best sandwiches on the beach)

We typically do not go North of Kitty Hawk, since traffic on 12 is awful. We're also not a fan of those huge places that serve massive deep fried platters (i.e. Miller's, Pamlico Jack's, etc.) We know those are OBX institutions, but we only hit up when we go in a big group. I'm thinking of places for 2-4 adults to get a nice meal out.

Outer Banks Cheesesteaks,
Pamlico Jacks
