tired of listening to me whine about pork buns, my dear sweet boyfriend stopped at the japoneise bakery on beacon street in brookline last night and picked up some buns. one of the larger ones had this savory, fiberous, roan colored stuff on top (some type of pork product??). the bun itself had the texture of a dense challah and there was an occasional scallion mixed in. There was also this sticky, not overly sweet glaze dripped on it.
can anyone make a guess as to what this was based on my feeble description? it was quite good.
