a couple of us have traded reports on myrtle thai in ft. greene. i've been meaning to post again for a while b/c, after having tried a couple of dishes, i had one real success. hopefully it wasn't an anomaly.
so far, everything's sort of okay. nothing to rave about, but good to have as an option in the hood. (i note, however, that while i've tried several dishes, i've only tried each of those dishes once...trying to scope out the variety...consistency i'm not sure about.)
however, not too long ago, i had the duck curry and it was very good. i wondered how they get their duck...frozen maybe? (does one freeze duck? i don't know much about the restaurant industry or duck itself.) i was surprised to find the duck to be very flavorful, with a pleasantly tender texture. (much duck i've had at thai restaurants has been dry and chewy.) it was served in red curry which, while not spicy hot, was very tasty and made me think it had been made much earlier (days?), allowing the flavors to meld really well. basil leaves, bamboo, tomato, pineapple, string beans are what i remember in the curry, besides the duck of course.
