Montreal with Food Allergies

Son has severe tree nut allergies ( pistachio, pecan, walnut , hazelnut etc). Coming to Monreal for an international fencing competition and staying downtown. Last year did Au Pied du Cochon (excellent), Feria (spelling? Portugese seafood) (fine), restaurant at the Sofitel (great breakfast, not so great at dinner), and for us the awful Que de Cheval etc.(loud, noisy, overpriced, overhyped)

Safest are restaurants that are not chains, have chefs that use impeccable ingredients and prepare most of the meal at the time of ordering. Prix fix menus are okay if there are lots of choices, and are not premade. Though we carry "chef cards" with translations into French, a chef with knowledge of food allergies is our best hope. Tend to avoid restaurants with menus where everyother dish has nuts (too much chance of cross-contamination) .

So we are back for 4 days. Will go back to Au Pied Du Cochon, and will try Moishe's for the steak. Any other suggestions? Have car and willing to travel a bit. Lunch suggestions also appreciated.
