Might anyone out there give me a recent report on Monastero's? My dad always loved it (and the Blackhawk and Ignatz&Mary's and Henrici's), for the family-owners who used to bring out comp pastries on St. Joseph's day and schmooze. I haven't been there in decades.
I grew up in Chicago and learned from my dad to eat adventurously before venturing out on my own and learning to love eating in Chicagoland. I don't live there any more, but it still provides the memorable dining experiences against which I continue to measure new ones.
Thanks to all for making Chowhound Chicago the best way to spend half a leisurely day!
