Momofuku : terrible: review

Had a meal here the other night, not what I expected and definitely not what all the rave has been about. The service was horrendous and the hot Ramen that I ordered came luke warm. i'm not a pro at critiquing food but this place really is over hyped and there was no apparent lines anywhere. I have friends that warned me not to go and I decided to try it anyway.

Food:
started out with the roasted rice cake and oysters w/ kimchee, the rice cake was way too mushy for me, it literally fell apart when I picked it up and the oysters were definitely not fresh, way too fishy with uneasy twang to it. The chicken noodle soup and Kimchee stew came luke warm, the Kimchee Stew did not have the flavor of kimchee and the stew itself was not very ...meaty, it just didn't feel hearty and the chicken noodle soup was filled with over cooked noodles, does anyone know what that's like? to eat over cooked noodles? while the broth was over salted and the veggies that came with it actually looked brown.

Service:
horrible, I mean, even if the food was bad good service would make me and the wife come back for a second try. they acted as if we were annoying them rather than paying customers. We had to ask to have our order taken, ask to get water, ask to be served and then when we had questions about the menu, the server actually had the nerve to let out a deep "sigh" like we were taking up her time!

Overall:
I wouldn't recommend this place, i think they really need to not let their initial success go to their heads, they absolutely need to realize that they are in the hospitality service.

maybe I caught them on a bad night either way I won't give them a second chance to be rude to us again.
