Modo Mio -- a short report

Having read/heard so much praise about Modo Mio here and elsewhere, we finally got there last week. I won't report at length on the food (because others already have), except to say that it was, with one exception (an over-salty steak ordered my husband) excellent; the bread alone was transcendant, and an eggplant entree was melt-in-my-mouth fabulous.

But a couple of notes: 1) We ordered the Touristica menu based on the (incredibly chirpy) server's emphasis on how small the plates are; as it turned out, it was too much food for us, so we'll happily do a la carte the next time. 2) The minute one of us finished a dish, one of the servers or buspeople whisked it off the table, even when the other of us was still eating. This is annoying in any restaurant, but particularly so in a place where the aforementioned server went on and on about how authentically Italian it is. The plate-whisking does NOT happen in Italy; they're not in a hurry. 3) This is the real killer: After a large party finished their meal and left, the busboy cleared the tables, and then proceeded to wash them with WINDEX. Way to kill food aromas and everyone's appetitites, guys.

Having said all that, I'll say again that we loved the food and we will go back.
