Mission Pak -- and Kokomo

TE | Dec 21, 2004 04:55 PM

As Trader Joe doesn't seem to be selling the candied fruit prepacks this year (at least that's what the store mamager told me last week), this morning I went to Option 2, the nut shop at Farmer's Market (3rd and Fairfax). The selection was much smaller -- and much more expensive -- than I remember it, so I passed.

Went over to Kokomos, where I'd always been able to count on a good breakfast. What's happened? It's been a while since I've been there, but the seating space sems to be much smaller, and the breakfast menu (at least that on the regular full menu -- I didn't see a separate one, and it was 9 a.m.) was about eight items, and I had a horrible feeling that they may not be serving the coffee cake any more.

A friend tells me that they frequently change owners (something I didn't know), and suggests that explains what's going on, at least with the menu.

So, two questions:

Anybody know what's going on with Kokomo?
Anybody know somebody in the East Hollywood-Santa Monica area (not Long Beeach, Gardena, onterey Park, Orange County or like that) who sells what used to be branded as Mission Paks? No time for mail order, obviously.
