mission district restaurants

Hi everyone,

Great site! Just discovered it today and have already found a wealth of info.

Well, my husband and I are just moving back to SF after spending the last couple of years in Portland, Oregon.

We are moving back to our old 'hood - the Mission. I've been checking our the restaurant reviews in the area and it looks like a lot of my old favorites are still there. My question to you is, are there any places that have opened up since 2000 that are worth trying out in that area? Similarly, are there any restaurants that have improved favorably (I am thinking of Foreign Cinema, which I've heard is better than it was when I ate there back in 1999, but I'd love to hear about other restaurants, as well)? Is Blowfish still overpriced and all style/no substance? And lastly, has anyone tried that new (to me, anyway) restaurant, Limon? I assume El Faro and a lot of my other favorite taquerias/pupuserias are still kicking a** and taking names, but if there's been a shift in the quality in any of those places, I'd love to hear about that, as well.

Thanks in advance for any and all info!

Monica

PS Oh, and what's up with Slanted Door? I heard it's moved, but only temporarily, which sounds odd. True?
