Minimizing grease accumulation with no hood

eloquiste | Apr 30, 202011:29 AM     10

We just went under contract for our “Barbie Dream House” and one of the things that annoys me greatly, but is totally not a deal breaker, is that the current owners remodeled their kitchen in 2018, putting their Wolf range on a kitchen island with no overhead hood. Only have a downdraft. I’ve heard those are pretty useless. I’ve rented my whole adult life and have never had a hood and it’s always been a huge annoyance how everything gets covered in grease particles (and they travel so far! I have a ficus that’s in the dining room, caddy corner to the stove 16 feet away, and it has grease on it’s leaves!) Thoughts on how to minimize grease accumulation? Normally I would consider shelling out for a hood but it would obstruct our view of Mt. Hood. I’ve wondered if putting a pot rack above the range will help capture the particles, and be less intrusive to the view than a hood. I cook most nights and so pots and pans get washed regularly; would rather deal with that if it can minimize grime all over my ceiling and cabinets. Any thoughts appreciated!
