Mini Garden on Oahu

Someone said that this was a good rest. due to their recent Cantonese immigrant chef, so we went. The first time we had the Shrimp Fu Yung, which was good, and the Chef Special Crispy Shrimp Ball, which was about the same as one gets at e.g., Legend in their dim sum menu. We did notice that the framed reviews were from 2006 and 2007, so the immigrant seems not to be so very recent. At least two individuals at other tables ordered Pork Mu Shu Roll, so my wife ordered that the second time we went. I ordered Shrimp A La Canton, the chef being Cantonese and all. The rolls were OK as was the shrimp, but nothing special: deep fried in bread crumbs. Nice that they weren't greasy. Then we noticed the sad little '70s bar that wasn't a bar anymore with the picture of Chairman Mao on the wall. The Chinese waiter had been a little brusk the first time we were there, but we took that as a sign of authenticity. The second time, he was more rude than authentic. When the check arrived, I just put the plastic on the tray and he picked it up, but when the bill came back, it seemed kind of high, so I asked to see the check again. The waiter had put an extra low-cost ($6.75) item on the bill. Apparently he thought two doddering old people (one in a wheel chair) wouldn't notice and would just pay. We did not leave a tip because we think that a place that would rip off old people is a shit hole not to be patronized. So much for Mini Garden...
