I had my mind blown at Belle's Bistro

Swankalicious | Feb 17, 2014 05:10 PM

I know there's been some bellyaching on the board about the severe lack of delicious dining in Metro West - especially Acton, Concord, Westford. Well, fine Hounds, I am delighted to report that we Swanks enjoyed a SUCCULENT lunch at Belle's, Westford.

It's a hole in the wall. Doesn't look like much from the outside...perhaps a roadhouse where sad sack hometown drinkers might stumble in after a lonely night on the Nashoba Valley slopes.

Inside, however, it is quite cheery. Hostess and waitress were so friendly, happy to send us samples from the kitchen (!), chatty, lovely. I had chili. Wasn't sure if I wanted a whole portion, so our waitress got me a little sample and then offered to bring a cup, instead of a full bowl. It was spicy, rich, and coated in yellow cheese - yum!

Then, I enjoyed a meaty rueben, stacked high with turkey, sauerkraut, russian dressing. It came with a small side salad glazed with a maple vinaigrette. Luscious. Dining companion had a husky portion of butternut squash ravioli stuffed with vegetable mousse, as well as a side of spicy firecracker shrimp.

It was a lovely little afternoon, made even better by helpful, warm service. I'll certainly return for dinner. They also have a full gluten-free menu. Yum!
