Milk Pail Market, Mountain View

Judith Hurley | Jul 14, 200205:06 PM

We went to the Milk Pail Market today as recommended earlier on this board, in search of Greek yogurt. They do indeed sell it, same brand as Dean and Delucca carries (Total), and a bit cheaper besides. It comes fat-free, two percent, full fat, also packaged with Greek honey.

But the story doesn't end there: Milk Pail is an incredible find -- a cluttered, old fashioned kind of place that must have had its origins as a farm stand or a local dairy stand. It makes the corner of a huge Walmart shopping mall, probably an obstinate hold-out, a litle piece of the past still going strong.

Whatever its origins, Milk Pail now carries an incredible array of cheeses, along with all sorts of unexpected good things and produce at great prices. It's on California Street and San Antonio, right on the Mountain View-Palo Alto border. Worth checking out if you're anywhere nearby.
