We gave our 17 year old niece from Michigan a trip to NY as a present. We want to introduce her to NY food experience at a top-notch restaurant [great food, great service, great decor] at lunch-time prices. Problem is that my plain-jane sister is coming along on the trip. Thinks Applebees and TGI Friday have great food. VERY picky and boring, even by Midwest standards [no onions, no sauces, etc.] Any suggestions for a great lunch place we can go where chef will accommodate request to make stuff [a chicken dish, for example] plain for the plain-jane sister - yet still be a place to introduce niece to an overall great food experience she can't get at home? HELP!!
