Hey, regional food fans.
I was just about to get a cheap, healthy (but not so great) meal from Teriyaki Boy on 7th Avenue near 49th Street, but when I spotted the tiny place selling cheesesteaks, and only cheesesteaks, I had to try one.
Owner is from Philadelphia, and seemed very Philadelphian. Ditto for both of the other customers.
I had mine with cheeze whiz, and it was... well... authentic. But not so great. Meat was a little drier than at the Philly places I've eaten at. Bread was a little different, too, but at least it wasn't stock NYC Italian bread, which was what I was expecting.
Perhaps, if they can survive the summer (it's a cursed location), the grill will get dirtier and greasier, which would certainly improve the steaks.
