There's a great new Middle Eastern restaurant in Salisbury, MD, called 1,001 Nights. The chef and owner is Jordanian, if I remember correctly. It has very nice decor, and sometimes there's "family style" belly dancing. The dinner entrees are somewhere in the $12-$18 range or so. I thought it deserved a heads-up here because it's unusual to find an ethnic restaurant of this quality in Salisbury, especially considering the area can be a bit of a chow wasteland and isn't very cosmopolitan, to say the least.
So, if you're in the area, or if you're in Ocean City (about 25 miles away) and trying to escape the crowds and the tourist traps, keep this place in mind.
Apparently the owner regards his restaurant as an "experiment" and it currently has a one-year lease; if it doesn't do much business, it might close after that time.
It got a positive review in the Salisbury Daily Times, but they like everything. 1,001 Nights is one place that actually deserves the kudos.
My memory is failing me utterly -- I should have taken some notes concerning the menu options, besides the excellent cornish hen. I'll post again when I get back to the area and re-acquire that info about the specific dishes.
