Micro Celebrity and the Modern Chef

There is an interesting strand on the General site about Diva Chefs and I am not sure if this should go there but, after watching a couple of cookery programmes on TV last night, I wanted to vent my spleen about the horror of the TV Cook.

Britain seems to be entirely populated at the moment by mindless, grinning would be superstars who claim to be able to cook but come out with such inane comments as " olive oil is available from any good supermarket " or " I find this recipe works just as wel with dried herbs" SHUT UP it doesn't!!!

What is worse, is each of these weasels now think they have to be more of a character. The latest being that most loathsome of creatures Jamie Oliver ( The Naked Chef ) who parades his lack of talent as if it is something to be proud of and ( despite coming from a nice middle class background ) spout faux cockney-isms refering to everything as "pukka" All the time he gurns at the camera with a face that was made to be slapped.

He is but the tip of an horrific iceberg with moronic presenters such as Anthony ( fat and untalented what a way to go through life ) Worrall Thompson, Ainsley ( I will set the cause of black people back to the days of slavery ) Harriott and a whole plethora of others

These telly trash types claim to have some messianic vision to popularise food and cooking but what they are really doing is reducing the love of good food to its basest level. I love the fact that in this long deprived country we can now get everything under God's sun in any supermarket and that people are as used to cooking thai food at home as they are to cooking traditional dishes, but these people are the result of the general dumbing down of society and as you can see I AM AS MAD AS HELL AND NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE.

Thank you for your kind ear.
