David Khan I could kiss you!!
You suggested this place under a hit list of downtown LA spots a few weeks back. I printed it & keep in my car for days that I'm at the Mart. I went to this spot today and LOVED IT.
One of my biggest gripes with Mexican restaurants is the salsa. To me, this is the easiest thing, with a little effort, to make into a unbelievably flavorful and SPICY garnish. Well I am happy to report that these guys are one of the few that get it...the salsa had the kick often lacking.
Chips were fresh and not oily!
Rice was perfect--not oily, not any foofoo things going on with it, just good Mexican rice!
Beans were great!
Chicken tostada was really, really good, but not my fav as I prefer it with Mexican orange cheese, not Mozz.
Best of all, the people were SOOO FRIENDLY. I felt like I had walked into my grandmother's house, or that of one of her friends. As a gesture of endearment, they even called me "Mija (Miha)", when I left. I can't wait to take my parents.
Thanks for the tip, David. I would have NEVER ventured into this spot otherwise!
