Mexican Coca Cola at Taqueria Maria

Stanley Stephan | May 28, 2002 11:17 PM

On the corner diagnolly across from In-N-Out burger in Daly City...1618 Sullivan Avenue...

They still sell the original version of Coca Cola in Mexico. It is made with sugar and not corn syrup. Real Coca Cola fans might be interested. When I worked down there I used to have to bring the stuff home to friends. (You'll note I use Coca Cola. A custom agent once asked me what I had in my bag and I said coke. Can you say frisked in Spanish?).

Anyway, it is outragiously priced at $1.90 a bottle, but is cheaper than a trip to Mexico.

And that's the ONLY thing you should buy there. All that talk about tortas on the board recently made me stop by when I saw tortas advertised. These are the SF Franken-tortas....those bulging overstuffed...things...

I also had the WORST horchata in my life, all sugar, no flavor.

Their chips make Fritos look like gourmet food.

They have the look of a chain.
