During a visit to Central Florida last week I was lucky enough to eat (not once but twice) at Merritt's Table on Merritt Island. The menu changes daily and the chef is devoted to the freshest ingredients, sourced locally when possible.
Lunch highlights were the Lobster Bisque, perfectly prepared Beef Tartare and an amazing appetizer of mushrooms in a very light wine sauce. The hummus was also noteworthy, it was swirled with olive tapenade ~ very attractive presentation and a great contrast of flavors.
We enjoyed lunch so much that we returned for dinner the next night. Once again, I thought the mushrooms stole the show. Different mushrooms and a different presentation this time, but absolutely delicious. Main course highlights were the Duck Breast with Foie Gras Sauce, Flat Iron Steak and, of course, the local Grouper.
Dessert standouts were two sherbets ~ roasted orange and strawberry. Each were simply the essence of the fruit.
Extensive and well thought out wine list, rely on Laura to help you choose.
