Memorable sandwiches. I've had plenty of 'em. From minced and sliced pork barbecue sandwiches all over North Carolina, to that great fried oyster po boy at The Acme in New Orleans (the oysters are fried in pure lard, to the hot pastrami at Manny's in Chicago. I don't remember the name of that watering hole in Jessup, Maryland, just outside of Fort Meade, but I'll never forget the ham sandwich I had there on a regular basis back in the seventies, during my years in the army. Sliced super thin, piled high on a great kaiser, and run "thru the garden". Or it could be your favorite creation which you enjoy at home, like one of my favorites: ripe summer tomatoes, never refrigerated and thickly sliced, on whole wheat, with freshly ground black pepper, homemade mayo, and kosher salt.
What are some of your most memorable sandwiches?
