As the transit strike left me in Brooklyn all day, my husband and I took the opportunity -at last- to try Melt, on Bergen Street, which we had avoided as it seems a little pricey. I have to say that they are offering a great lunch deal of $9 for soup and sandwich. Today's soups were asparragus and shrimp bisque, both creamy and very tasty. My husband had the cod sandwich, which was served on onion focaccia and a very nice mayo-like sauce. I had the portobello "burger", served with goat cheese, red pepper and caramelized onions on a nice roll-type bread. They both came with a mixed green salad and very very good french fried, thin and skin on, with ketchup and a herbed mayo.
Knowing this, I am now tempeted to go for dinner. Any experiences in that area?
