Melaka Asian Buffet in San Bruno

When Lyon’s around the Bay Area closed down we lost a cheap American breakfast joint. In it's place in San Bruno now is the one of the cheap new Asian Buffet which serves Japanese, Korean and Chinese food. Following the advise of one our family friends we tried for lunch today. The price is right $15.00 not including tip for two. Tea was included with lunch.

We were offer ten types of sushi nothing to write home about but it was fresh and well presented. For dessert you are offered fruit fresh and canned. A Chinese hot bean sweet soup, which we did not try.

But Chinese food was freshly cooked and very good. They offered salt and pepper fish fillet, large Asian squid and Chicken wings. These they cooked in small batches (as needed) and the product being fresh was very good.

Other dishes were Hot and Sour Soup, Egg Drop Soup, Roti (Singapore pancake I think), Pot stickers, Samosa, Tempura Vegetables, Peking Pork Chops, Mixed Vegetable, Singapore Curry Rice Noodle, Chow Mien, Fried Rice and Chicken stir fry.

What I noticed was I could watch the open kitchen and the cooks were constantly cooking small portions and refilling quickly the trays as they empty. We arrive at 11:30 and the place quickly filled up.

The price is the same for lunch and dinner. Great food it is not but it is cheap and filling and for the price much better than Todai. Free parking lot and street parking available.
