Mekong Market, Santa Rosa

This Asian market has moved down the street, now on Sebastopol Road just east of Dutton Ave, and has been in its new location for a month. Tonight was my first visit, although they've been in business for 11 years.

I needed some tapioca pearl and they had it in both large and small sizes. The selection of palm sugar offer 5 different brands from Guangzhou and Thailand. The produce section didn't look nearly as fresh as SF Chinatown would offer but there is a good selection of bitter greens, galangal, Thai herbs, Shanghai cabbage, opa, tiny Thai chilis, and lots of other things that I'm not familiar with. I picked up some tiny Thai eggplant - variegated green and about the size of a ping-pong ball. Many Mexican spices/veggies are also offered.

A good selection of all the staples seem to be available. I also got a bottle of one of my favorite condiments - "Sweet Chilli Sauce for Chicken" from First World, made in Thailand, 26 oz. for $1.10. Put this on the table the next time you grill up some chicken.
