Mediterranean Cafe (Wilton)--ick.

We love Pika in New Haven, so, since we were off to a community theater performance in Wilton (1776--and, for Wilton readers, it was great!), we decided to pop into its sister restaurant, Mediterranean Cafe. We had one of the few truly bad meals I've had in a long time. We started by sharing an octopus special--grilled with fava beans--which was pretty much tasteless; all downhill from there. I had the grouper special, over what were lumpy mashed potatoes, pine nuts, and raisins (recommended by the waiter); the pine nuts and raisins had been cooked past the point of having any flavor or texture, the potatos were lukewarm, and the fish wasn't spiced and tasted like it was poached, despite evidence to the contrary. My companion had the seafood canneloni, which the menu described as containing roasted tomatoes, but which turned out to be in a cream sauce (weird) and had no tomatoes that we could unearth; it actually tasted unpleasant. Our dessert--a dense, hard chocolate pie--was fine.

All in all, a supreme disappointment, particulary after our wonderful meals at Pika. Does anyone know if the restuarants are still owned by the same people?
