Well thanks to our local newspaper whom shall remain nameless (The Greenville News...sorry but it slipped out) my lovely town has hit a new low in food based journalism. Our local newspaper gave the Olive Garden (yes, that Olive Garden)a glowing review! Now to be fair you should know that the G'ville News utilizes a man on the street format rather than a journalist with even an inkling of food based knowledge. I am certain that the end result is that all of these mediocre restaurants believe themselves better than they really are. The 2 other big cities in SC (Charleston & Columbia) have food reviewers, why not us? Is there another southern town whose newspaper uses a man on the street reviewer? I have fussed at several editors over the course of the last 2 years to try to make them see the error of their ways but to no avail. What's a hound to do?? And now the Olive Garden gets better reviews than a chef-owned, 50 seat Italian Restaurant. I mean it's the FREAKING OLIVE GARDEN !! What in Heaven's name is wrong with the Greenville News??
