Hello, chowfolks. Here's the challenge.
I have spent lots and lots of time on the Vineyard. Next weekend, I'm attending a conference in Woods Hole, MA. I have two friends who will be there who have never been to the Vineyard. We have only one afternoon -- next Sunday -- for my 'round-the-island orientation tour. My goal: that they'll fall in love with it too.
We will stay for an evening meal. My question to all of you is: if you had one meal, and two island 'virgins', where would you take them to eat? What would be the best, single food experience I could offer. Casual is fine (the Newes, Harborside are possibilities) and the next notch upmarket is also fine (Lola's, Park Corner) but we will not be in any kind of shape for a superfine meal (Le Grenier). Maybe next time for that. The idea is to give them a sense of island life, a little characteristic vibe and flavor. Of course I thought of a Menemsha picnic, but given our schedule the logistics will be tough! So I'm seeking your votes -- Where can this best be done?
