Had an excellent Oktoberfest dinner last night at the Matterhorn Chef on Oxnard at Woodman in Sherman Oaks. The hasenpfeffer was great as was the Shweinehaxe (not quite as crisp as at the Haxenbauer in Munich). The schweinexaxe (pork shank) was appropriately crisp with lots of moist meat under the crispy skin. Good sauerdraut and spaetzle. We amy have lost the Blackforest but at least there is a very good substitue that it seems I have been wrongly ignoring for too many years. For those of you who are wine lovers I took in a 1982 Silver Oak Napa last night and it was stellar. Highly recommend the Matterhorn Chef.
