I've driven by the Five Corners in Scarsdale a few times and noticed some huge banners hung from what used to be Bistro Citron and Backals. They both read "Masseria" and there a web site at www.masseriascarsdale.com.
Although the web site is not up, I Googled Masseria and it seems like we're in for an Italian restaurant. Don't know if it's an offshoot of La Masseria (http://www.lamasserianyc.com/) which is in Manhattan and East Greenwich, RI.
The definition of a "masseria" is "a fortified farmhouse. They are commonly found in southern Italy, particularly Puglia and Sicily."
This location has been cursed with these two previous restaurants which never had any buzz, lift or appeal. Too bad because the turreted building itself is quite striking. Let's hope this one sticks around for more than a year?
