Mario Batali to cook with Mark Peel tomorrow night

Read this in today's Calendar Weekend if anyone is interested:

--Mario Batali Dinner: The TV chef visits Campanile to cook with chef-owner Mark Peel on Friday. He'll be making a six-course menu using dishes from his new book, "The Babbo Cookbook." Copies will be on hand for signing. The menu, which will be available from 5:30 p.m. on, includes items like duck bresaola with pickled fiddleheads and red onion jam and braised beef short ribs with horseradish gremolata. Also, for those of you who are interested, Mario Batali will be performing a cooking demo at the L.A. Times' Festival of Books this weekend at UCLA. I believe he will be there at 3:00 on Saturday. He is preceeded by Alton Brown (2:00) and Nobu Matsuhisa (1:00). They have demos every hour on the hour but those were the three guys I was most interested in so I can't remember who else will be there. I believe the Two Hot Tamales are cooking on Sunday. This is a great event as a whole, free for all (except for parking). There doesn't seem to be a schedule online but here's the link. Hope to see you there.
