My family and I went to Marica on College Avenue this week and although I was not blown away, I was pleasantly surprised and will definately return. I have to say that the early bird specials are an incrediable deal(3 course cost us ONLY $18.00). We started off with crab cakes that were very tasty- just the right amount of crab and appropriately moist. Several us ordered salads, which were excellent. A good variety of mixed greens and beets- all very fresh. My only issue with the salad was that the portions were ridiculously huge. The tuna we ordered was served with greens and a flavorful broth. The fish was of excellent quality and the portions again were HUGE. I think there might have been a little too much going on in terms of flavors but otherwise it was an excellent entree. Service was very attentive and unpretentious-which is hard to find, consistently, here in the Bay Area. I found that even though Marica's space is sparce it is very comfortable- maybe due to the old wooden bar and brick wall.
