I had asked for recs in Art museum area last week, and could not put them to use, as my mom wanted to do some shopping at Khiel's in Rittenouse Square after our interviews for volunteers at the museum. But I promised to report back, so....... We ended up at Marathon on the square, where I have been before and like very much. As I mentioned in my post, my mom is not a chowhound, and actually wanted to go to Jones(she loves Jones) but we ended up at what I consider to be the less pricey and sceney food equivilent of Jones, Marathon on the square. She got the chicken noodle soup and a side of mashed potatoes. They were both big portions, and she loved them both. She kept saying "just like I make!" I got what I always get, the boston endive gorgonzola salad, which is like heaven to me. The gorgonzola is so good, I have to ask where they get it. I also got a glass of merlot(I forget what kind, the only one they served by the glass). I ordered the appetizer portion of the salad and still took half of it home. The whole thing for 2 was 23.00. Not fine dining, but great food at a good location and price.
