Last week, 3 of us met for lunch in the cafe at #9 Park...looked over the menus and decided to go for the 8 course tasting menu..paired with wine.
Borscht and Caviar, Horseradish
Pan Fried Smelts
Foie Gras and Oxtail Terrine
Chestnut/ Mushroom Risotto
Lamb belly Tapas..sort of lamb carnita
Veal Rossini, foie gras, truffles
Cheese plate..aged gouda, VT blue cheese, 2 others I can't recall.
Sage Honey Phyllo Napolean
Dark and White Chocolate Beignet
It adds to more than 8..the shortribs were an addition from the regular menu..we were going to sub it for the veal; they gave us both..cheese and sorbet didn't count among the 8. Every course was matched to a wine..starting with a rose champagne, then mostly Italian, finished with 2 dessert wines.
Also a sampling of the new Earl Grey infused martini..somewhere in the middle..:)
No losers among but the dishes..highlights for me were the veal, shortribs, soup, terrine..but everything was great.
Service was friendly and professional.
As they started setting up for dinner, 2 of us stumbled out..1 hardcore remained..:)
