Manti - Turkish Dumpling Dish?

WildSwede | Mar 24, 2006 03:30 PM

In perusing my friend's March Saveur Magazine, there was an article about Manti - a turkish dumpling that is served in a yogurt sauce. Apparently they are tiny purse-shaped (or various other shaped) dumplings that are either boiled, baked or steamed; stuffed with ground lamb and topped with thick garlicky yogurt, browned butter, mint and red chile flakes. Sometimes they are topped with tomatoes, pine nuts and basil in addition to the browned butter. They are most famous in Kayseri in the center of Anatolia.
Looks damn good.
Anyone know of a place in the LA area that serves this or anything like it? Thanks!
