Manna, Korean Bargain

Tasty, Korean, and fast food is a combination that is hard to come by in the Village but Manna on Mercer St. definitely satisfies.

In a humble, pizza parlor type environment they serve up some very affordable and filling meals. For around $6 you can get a tasty bowl of beef bi bim bop with a perfectly fried egg, nicely charred shreds of beef, and plenty of pickled vegetables. Although lacking a stone bowl to crisp up the rice it had everything else that makes a perfect bi bim bop and the rice had more bite than you'd usually find in a takeout type shop like this.

The meal also came with cold transparent noodles, a bowl of miso, soup, and a pile of kim chee.

Other options are overwhelming 10 part bento box meals for under 10 bucks and homey omu risu.

Has this place been around forever and I've been blind to it hidden under the seemingly permanent scaffolding on the building's facade?
