Malaysian / Nyonya Style Cuisine

YingZheng | Dec 2, 201003:23 PM     10

I was on my way to Pho Mac the other day in Plano when I noticed they had some new competition. A Malaysian restaurant that specializes in Nyonya cuisine (a Malay-Chinese hybrid) just opened recently - Blue Ginger Garden. I couldnt resist so I gave Pho mac the shaft and went in. I was happy to see they had curry Laksa on the menu so ordered it, along with some water spinach with shrimp paste and some flatbread.

It was pretty good so I thought I'd post here. This is my first experience with Laksa - they have three versions, each with different styles of noodles. I got option #3 which is egg noodles and vermecilli. The Laksa contained fish balls, chicken, shrimp, and interestingly a deep fried egg. The Laksa was very good and I'll probably be back.

Options are limited in Dallas for Malaysian if Im not mistaken (Secret recipe and one other), and this one is particularly unique since it is a regional variation. I'll link to their website below.
