Looking for Maine rec's for Camden & Portland + critique of choices so far for upcoming trip

alkonost | Aug 20, 201510:32 AM     96

I’d love a critique on my restaurant selections for my upcoming trip to Maine (Camden & Portland), and I have a few gaps in the meal schedule where I’m hoping for some recommendations on lobster pounds for lunch (around Camden), and fine to mid range restaurants for 1 dinner in Camden and 2 Dinners/2 lunches in Portland. For Portland meals I’ve been looking at the following but am not too sure about them: East Ender, Fore Street, Vinland, Blue Rooster, Dobra tea.

In case a more context is needed for recommendations, I’d prefer to focus on seafood and unique local cuisine, and avoid ethnic cuisines unless a restaurant happens to be truly exceptional (and authentic, not fusion done half-assed or Americanized renditions). Primarily it’s seafood I can’t get where we currently live so that’s what I’m seeking for this trip. Quality is much more important than quantity.

We’re flying into Portland late, staying near the airport (SoPo) before heading to Camden (staying at Whitehall) for a few, then back to Portland (Downtown) for a couple days before we fly back home.

Evening 1: SoPo after a long flight, low motivation to travel far
Dinner @ Enios (SoPo)

Day 2: Driving from South Portland to Camden
Breakfast @ 158 Pickett Street Café (Bagel & Lox!)
Lunch @ Five Islands Lobster Pound
Dinner @ Pig + Poet/Whitehall

Day 2: Camden & Rockland
Breakfast @ Whitehall
Morning in Maine sail tour in Rockland
Lunch: Advice sought, I’m torn between Watermans and McLoons. What are the differences? What does one do better than the other?
Dinner @ Natalie’s

Day 3: Camden
Breakfast @ Whitehall
Lunch @ ??? Looking for lobster pound recommendation
Dinner @ Suziki’s Sushi Bar

Day 4: Camden
Breakfast @ Whitehall
Lunch?? @ ??? Looking for lobster pound recommendation
Dinner @ ??? Looking for recommendation in Camden or Rockland. Maybe Pig + Poet again if we’re impressed by the meal on day #2???

Day 5: Camden driving to Portland
Breakfast @ Whitehall
Lunch?? Looking for recommendation driving between Camden and Portland (not Reds, no time to wait in line). Thinking about Erica’s Lobster
Dinner @ ??? Looking for recommendation in Portland

Day 6: Portland
Breakfast @ Standard Baking Co
Lunch @ Duckfat
Dinner @ Eventide

Day 7: Portland
Breakfast @ Two Fat Cats
Lunch @ ??? Looking for recommendation in Portland
Dinner@ ??? Looking for recommendation in Portland. A bit torn between East Ender and Vinland

Thanks for the help planning my trip! Good food is going to be the focus.
