ended up at Madiba last night around 9:00 p.m. was driving around to look for a place to have a nice dinner with my partner. was driving around fort greene well we decided to try this place because we had never had south african food before . well we should have just kept driving it was one of the worse dinners i had in a long time should have known when we were waiting for our table i went into the restroom and the toilet was clogged we waited for 10 minutes for our table first of all there was no sense of who was in charge because while waiting one guy was going to give us a table for 4 but he was stopped by another person ,this was the beginning of the lack of communication in this very noisy restaurant.we waited another 5 minutes we were given a menu and the specials were mentioned and i asked about the shortrib was it beef i was reasurred it was . we were finally seated but our table was next to a door and it was drafty well we ordered an appetizer of chicken liver it was pretty good then our entree came out she ordered the special fish it was a half fish with tail end it was quite large but there was no taste and also it tasted like a frozen piece of fish with no taste except salt and the grilled asparagus was fine except they did not cut of the ends so it was too chewy . my entree was a shortrib in stew.well when i took out my meat it looked like cheap chuck steak that was cut up and i started getting pissed i caught a waiter and explained the situation to me they ran out of shortbibs and they replaced it with lamb . they offered to replace the dish so i ordered the prawn peri-peri which was 3 prawns with a very oily salad . not worth it at all also they dimmed the lights when we were eating and had to ask them to put the lights back on as we could not see what we were eating by that time we were too fed up and asked for the check and left as fast as possible.
it was 11 by the time we got out. never again. the service was erratic and it seems they have no idea what they are doing they are friendly thats about it and also overpriced for what we got.
