Macy's Battle of the Chefs- Anyone been?

I came across a mention of this on a blog or maybe it was tabblehopper...

http://www.rivera-pr.com/calendar.php

i thought sounded interesting, sf iron chef, live- would be entertaining and something to do on a monday night if nothing else. despite emailing for the tickets (i'll describe the process in one sec) less that an hour after the link was live, i was unable to get tickets to the march 10th "battle"...bummer. :(

so i'm intrigued....in order to get tickets you have to submit your name, email and how many tickets you want. they email you with the "payment information" advertised as $10 a person, not bad! anyway, i got an email right away stating that... "The RSVP list is full at this time but we still encourage you to join us as all unclaimed seats will be released and sold on a first-come, first-serve basis..."

so i'm intrigued.....i realize these are hosted by a pr agency.....do you have to be someone they want there to be allowed to purchase tickets?

either way, i'll probably go and check it out...

interested if anyone out there has had a similar experience, was approved to buy tickets or even attended one of these things in the past?

thanks in advance!
